My Daily Reminder

Often people go about their lives in what seems to be a routine or daily schedule that remains relatively unchanging as the days and weeks go by and I can imagine that it provides some comfort. I’ve been somewhat struggling with this idea and figuring out how to bring change and joy into my everyday life. I’ve been made aware of the importance of gratefulness throughout the day which is a novel, yet useful practice. Even more helpful has been the reminder to do a check-in with myself, with the simple question How are you feeling?”. To my surprise I’ve realized being on a work and family routine, I had lost awareness and time for self-introspection. As a result, I had a very difficult time answering such simple question beyond the surface level emotions or the typical “I’m fine”. These last couple of weeks I’ve been incorporating this self-reflection and uncovering a variety of feelings and emotions that I would not normally even acknowledge were there nestled in my being. Having this new perception has helped me begin a closer relationship with myself.
